About Insurance

Gateway uses a large portion of the monthly management fee to purchase top quality commercial insurance for our fleet, it is designed to protect all of us for most major contingencies. However, we purposely set the deductible fairly high for several reasons:

- It lowers the premium, saving responsible owners money by keeping the monthly fees as low as possible.
- By making owners personally responsible for the deductable, it encourages careful boating, and that is the primary point.
- It removes minor damage from turning into claims, thus protecting our low rate status.

The bottom line is that we are well covered and work hard to promote safety and responsibility. Help us fight complacency… it is your boat after all, and pride of ownership should shine through. Our policy covers coastal and inland waters from Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, and SE Alaska north to Cape Fairweather and up to 75 nautical miles offshore.
